Once upon a time - and then countless times after that - I changed who I was being and then later found myself helping others do the same.
Lightworkers
The individuals that I am here to work with are called lightworkers. Known by names such as Indigos, Starseeds, Earth Angels and others - lightworkers are wise old souls on a mission.
While there are general attributes that are similar across all levels, not all lightworkers share the exact same experiences, knowledge and/or mission - there are lightworkers of all walks of life, on all levels of consciousness.
In general, the term lightworker applies to those who have an innate spiritual understanding of life and who feel inwardly compelled to work in loving service to others in various ways.
In every society, lightworkers are the ones who take care of, speak up for and advocate for others in kind and loving ways. They promote peace, love and wellbeing and use their own heads, hearts, hands and feet to help those in need.
Be it on a large scale or small - whether introverted or outgoing - lightworkers are the ones who make positive contributions to society that benefit the greater good.
With hearts wide open, the more empathic lightworkers are quite sensitive to the suffering of the world and are compelled to take positive and loving action to help alleviate it. They are usually aware of the higher spiritual dimensions to some degree, and with or without spiritual development, are able to communicate on those planes.
As a lightworker myself, I understand the inner struggle that can sometimes come with this type of path. I also understand how all of that struggle goes away once you finally wake up to who you truly are and start walking in the power of your purpose.
While there is so much awe and magic here, for some of us, it is not without its challenges.
For the most part, we find most societal norms to be backwards and have great difficulty conforming to societal standards that betray our inner knowing.
There is also a burden that comes with knowing spiritual truth because it reveals (and rather loudly) the falsities of our society. And this is quite emotionally and sometimes physically painful.
Throughout history, lightworkers were the brave ones who dared to be different, challenged the status quo and were often persecuted for doing so.
Because we are usually having spiritual experiences and inner insights that we sometimes can’t explain and that most can’t relate to, regular feelings of isolation are common.
We are often misunderstood, so we learn to keep a lot to ourselves. And when we do share our inner understanding, others may think we’re a little ‘out there’ or worse. The truth is, we are a little ‘out there’ and that’s both the ‘blessing and the curse’ in this 3D format.
Most spiritual lightworkers have vivid, prophetic dreams and spiritual encounters starting at a young age and typically have hardships or trauma in life that require us to heal ourselves and rise into divine love and light.
The healing work that we have to do for ourselves is the precursor to the healing work that we eventually do with others.
Lightworkers are learning and growing like everyone else and are not above missteps or growing pains. Over time, as we develop ourselves spiritually, we learn how to manage ourselves in ways that lead to greater peace and joy as we strive to embody the best versions of ourselves.
The Foundation of My Life’s Journey
Standing in the hallway of her house, my southern baptist grandmother told me that whenever I have a problem or question to, “always go to God” BEFORE going to anyone else.
At the time, I had recently moved in with my grandparents while my mother was battling cancer. I was eight years old and had no idea just how pivotal that moment would be for me - but I took her advice - and it would prove to be the single defining moment that would set me up for the rest of my life.
Sadness, depression and suicidal thoughts stalked me throughout much of my younger years — beginning around age eight. You couldn’t tell by looking at me, but inwardly, I was all over the place and had tremendous fear of the future.
I later learned that my emotional state as a kid was mostly due to having a very high-sugar diet of processed and fast-foods. But also in the equation was having to emotionally grow up quickly and process so many heavy feelings on my own.
My bed-bound mom was so sick from cancer and chemo that all she could do was sleep. She had stopped being able to take care of me for quite a while before I made the adult decision to pack my barbies and arrange for my move to my grandparents’ home. This left me feeling guilty for abandoning my mother, but not before first having felt abandoned by her.
I think my time living with my grandparents shaped me more than anything. It was a wholesome environment and I had a lot more quiet time and personal space to myself to just be.
I went to church, hung out with my grandmother and her old friends and talked to God a lot during this time. My grandmother was fun, silly and quite compassionate towards those in need. We played marbles and board games and she treated me like a friend - giving me wise advice for my future and talking to me about all of her life’s woes. She gave me boundaries and instilled certain values in me that I didn’t get anywhere else. My grandfather was a quiet and nurturing presence who did most of the cooking when he wasn’t buying me fast-food.
I used my personal time to find my voice and creativity through various forms of writing. And I wrote A LOT - from poetry, songs and a Young Author Award-Winning story - to journal entries and prayers to God. I also found value in reading scripture.
My grandmother once gave me a Christian book for kids that had the chapters organized by emotions. So whenever you felt a particular way, you looked it up and there was an encouraging message and then several scriptures for you to speak when you felt those feelings of anger, sadness, fear or whatever.
To this day, it is one of the most impactful books of my life because it not only worked to shift my emotions every time, but at eight years old, it taught me a valuable lesson in personal spiritual alchemy. I learned that I can change how I feel by shifting what I’m thinking about.
Transforming the mind happens to be the subject that I work with people on the most and am the most passionate about. Changing your life is not as easy as saying that you want to do it. There is an entire inner process of change that you have to first go through mentally and emotionally.
I stayed with my grandparents for four wonderful years before moving back home with my mother as a pre-teen where I suffered a deeper emotional wound that later sent me spiraling into a sort of dark night of the soul.
For two years - from age 14 to 16 - I was unconsciously trying to kill myself through my lifestyle choices. My neighborhood at my mother’s was harsh and stressful. We lived a couple of houses down from a trap house where drug activity was non-stop. All throughout the neighborhood, abandoned houses were a staple and gang violence was the norm. I fell asleep to the sound of gunshots on our street most nights and it wasn’t uncommon to come home from school to find our front door kicked in, house robbed and dog beaten up. As a latchkey kid, that was quite scary stuff to deal with while my mom was at work. And in my neighborhood, the police didn’t come quickly. The trauma from my relationship with my mom, in addition to living in a constant state of stress, caused me act out in a major way. I was rebellious to the point of putting myself in so many life-threatening situations that it’s truly divine that I am still here.
Journaling my feelings, writing poetry, reading scripture and talking to God (mostly on paper) is what got me through.
By the time I turned 16 years old, I didn’t like who I was and decided that it was time to heal and think about my future. My mom was an atheist so I went to church with my friends. I made a conscious decision to change my course and from that point on, I had a vision for my life that kept me going and also was blessed to use the wisdom I’d gained from my poor choices to help guide my peers. I was healing - and the purpose in my pain was beginning to reveal itself.
Still plagued with periodic depression and suicidal thoughts, my late teens brought about a more serious search for God and inner peace. I spent most of my time alone writing, praying and waiting for clear inner guidance — and it eventually came through.
After years of searching, I had finally elevated my consciousness to the point that I could actually hear clear spiritual guidance from within and I started channeling it on paper. When I would follow this inner guidance, magical things would happen. And when I didn’t, I would suffer. Years later, when beginning my spiritual studies, I began to read ancient teachings that were teaching the same truths that I had been channeling on paper since my late teens. I was beginning to trust my spirituality even more.
Spiritual Studies
My life continued to improve once I began studying and practicing meditation and other spiritual disciplines around age nineteen. I was also very much so into astrology and numerology when I met one of my earth angels; someone who would also become one of my best friends to this day. He introduced me to a book called ‘Tree of Life Meditation System’ by Ra Un Nefer Amen and that is what I used to learn how to meditate - and my life and insight has been elevating ever since. My friend also introduced me to Holistic Health books that were a crucial part of my healing and inspired me to become a vegetarian for the ten years that followed.
Around the same time, after being away from religion for many years, I began a six year journey through Christianity in a lovely church with very powerful and gifted humans who taught me much more than religion. I not only went to church services twice a week, I prayed and meditated for hours each day at home, in addition to praying with the elders in the intercessory prayer group every morning from 4 to 6am. I was also taken under the wing of our wise and gifted co-pastor who was like a mother and personally mentored me for several years.
As an adult, church for me was an initiation into a selfless type of service that was a crucial part of my continued inner healing and tremendously aided in significant spiritual growth and character development within me. It was there that I had many supernatural experiences with The Holy Spirit that solidified my knowledge of the supernatural and immersed me in the energy of Christ Consciousness. My entire experience in the church was simply beautiful, completely transformational and absolutely essential for who I was to become spiritually.
I have since expanded my studies into a variety of spiritual disciplines. At my current level of consciousness, I understand God to be the underlying essence of all creation. All galaxies - all of life in its entirety - is an extension/expression of the One Supreme God Consciousness known by many different names throughout the many different cultures. All are in God and God is in all - it is the consciousness that we are, it is the essence of our being, and consciously becoming one with it is the pinnacle of spiritual ascension.
Radio Career & Spoken Word Poetry
I was eighteen when I performed my first spoken word poetry piece while attending college at SIUC. I eventually competed and won both the state and regional Miss Eboness Pageant as an inspirational spoken word poet. Years later, I began performing on all of the St. Louis spoken word sets and after beginning my radio career, had the pleasure of being the opening artist for National Recording Artists such Anthony Hamilton, Common, Mos Def, Dwele, and Javier. My spoken word poetry told the stories of my own personal growth and spiritual development experiences and revelations, and were intended to inspire others along their journey.
At the age of 21, like most major events in my life, my inner guidance led me to embark upon an eleven year journey as a mainstream on-air radio personality for the purpose of using my platform to positively influence the masses.
I went into radio knowing that I had a mission and a responsibility to the people and that is how I conducted myself. I was still learning and growing myself, but that didn’t stop me from sharing knowledge and wisdom that had learned along the way.
It wasn’t long before I began regularly receiving calls, mail and messages from listeners all over the country whose lives had been enhanced and even completely changed by the guidance, spoken word poetry, inspirational music and/or “Words to Live By’ that I would share on my shows and on my blogs. I would also periodically be led to pray with people who came by the radio station and they would always comment that what I prayed about was exactly what they were going through.
The feedback from my listeners and celebrities like Anthony Hamilton, who was a big supporter of my spoken word poetry, and Dwele’ — who once joked that he needed to talk to me everyday for an inspirational pep talk — validated who I was here to be at a time when I was young and struggling inside with being in an industry that did not value the light that I was being.
I was a Clear Channel Radio ‘Premium Choice Talent’ with 18 radio shows and blogs on 18 different radio stations across the country (from New York to Mississippi) when my inner guidance spoke loud and clear that it was time to retire from radio and focus on helping people heal and transform their lives in a more hands-on way.
SN: Being that I now serve as a spiritual ‘channel’ promoting a magical lifestyle, I think it’s no coincidence that for eleven years (a master number), I worked for a broadcasting company called Clear Channel Radio on a radio station called Majic 104.9. My daily declaration for over a decade has been “I am a clear and open channel for divine healing and communication” and I promote a magical lifestyle.
Shortly before I ended my career in radio, I established an organization called Holistic, which was a Health, Fitness and Life Success Group. I began creating several free events with expert guests like Shawn Stevenson (before he became a NY Times Best-Selling Author) and others who spoke on various subjects to help empower people with the knowledge and support to live holistically healthier lives. It was the precursor to what I was about to do next.
The Rebirth
After leaving radio, I immediately began producing life enrichment workshops and also took on my first official life coaching client.
Just a few months in and another transformation was about to begin. Once I realized that I was supposed to be doing more than creating life enrichment events, I started meditating more and began rediscovering myself on an even deeper level.
The more I meditated, the more my intuitive abilities opened up and I began to hear my own spiritual guidance more clearly. Around this time, my eyes were opened to see the universal energy field and I received many potent visions about my previous lifetimes as well as my current life mission - which is the same as it has always been. It was then that my inner guidance system was leading me to start teaching meditation to small groups in my home. Unbeknownst to me, this was a divine set up for what else was to come.
The meditation classes I held at my home would sometimes last up to seven hours and would always spontaneously turn into guided meditations, followed by intuitive readings and then energy healing via the laying on of hands.
During the very first group meditation in my home, I was guided to lay hands on one of the individuals, and when doing so, I began intuitively hearing a message for them that I was instructed to deliver. I laid hands on and ‘read’ all 10 people in attendance and have been doing readings ever since.
This was how I discovered the next level of my life’s work - and it felt like a natural next best step along my path.
In the months that followed, I continued holding these healing sessions in my home and eventually created a program and led a group of 20 through a self-mastery course before hosting my classes in a friend’s photography studio.
After several months, I established the member-based Meditation Lounge where I began leading guided meditation classes a few times a week and taking on private clients for intuitive readings, spiritual life coaching and energy healing.
Group Meditation
When I opened The Meditation Lounge’s first location in St. Louis’ Grand Center, groups gathered 3 times a week for Guided Meditation Sessions and more and more individuals began booking 1:1 energy healing and intuitive readings. In the beginning, the classes were the bulk of my business, but as the word got around, my 1:1 sessions became more prominent.
Without advertising, people of different ages, ethnicities and levels of spiritual development gathered at my meditation space to enter an intuitively led guided meditation experience like none other. The most popular feedback was always, “That was exactly what I needed, it felt like you were talking directly to me.”
To say that people’s lives blossomed and changed in beautiful ways before my eyes is an understatement.
The classes not only offered an opportunity to experience meditation, but they also provided intuitive guidance and support from the spiritual community that we created.
After 6 years of classes, I began feeling a shift and slowly began reducing sessions at The Meditation Lounge until finally closing the physical location in early 2020.
In 2021, I decided to also take time off from private sessions in order to focus on family matters as well as the next large-scale transformation that I was going through.
After taking a year off from everything, I returned to working with clients individually in mid 2022.
About My Clients
Since 2001, I have had the honor of using my spiritual abilities to help many people heal and transform their lives in various ways. After establishing the Meditation Lounge in 2014, I began working with all types of people and professionals including students, scientists, teachers, engineers, nurses, doctors, attorneys and university professors. However, the majority of my long-term clients have been clinical therapists and entrepreneurs who also help others for a living.
Each person that I’ve had the honor of serving are all quite remarkable, spiritually inclined, and some of them have been on their spiritual path for quite some time. They come to me for many different reasons, but primarily to help them heal emotional wounds, to see themselves more clearly, develop themselves more spiritually and to receive guidance that helps them continue to elevate gracefully.
Client Sessions
With some, our sessions consist of intuitive readings that guide their everyday lives - i.e. personal growth/spiritual development, business/career, children/family, etc.
With others, we deep-dive into conversations about their meditation experiences, spiritual encounters, relationship challenges, hopes and dreams and all kinds of topics that may be a focus in their lives at any given time.
Whether the topics are lighthearted or of a more serious nature, the guidance and suggestions given during these conversations are always aligned with the best and highest good.
Everyone is in a different place on their path and has different needs. Being clairvoyant and clairaudient makes it easier for me to guide others in any type of session, through any area of life.
In the past, much of my work with others pertained to emotional healing and teaching how to integrate spiritual practices into everyday life in order to get into a higher state of mind. Now, the work is mostly centered around building an energetic bridge between where they currently are and where their higher hopes and dreams reside and then supporting them as they walk across it.
How I Work
While I have studied a great deal, I am not an intellectual and do very little work on the intellectual level with others.
I am a mystic and primarily work with clients on emotional and spiritual/supernatural levels. To accomplish this, during a session I dwell beyond the intellect in an energy field called superconsciousness. This is where profound knowledge, wisdom and emotional intelligence resides. It is the source of all knowing and the experience known as bliss or meditation.
Being in this state of consciousness while working with others allows me to see on a higher plane, which is how I do readings and also allows me to serve as an energy conductor to help others align spiritually. I am also connected to my client’s emotions to the degree that I can feel them as if they were my own.
My job isn’t to reason with the ego of my clients, nor is it to teach their intellect. My job is to lovingly hold the space for inner healing and spiritual elevation by seeing multidimensionally and then guiding accordingly.
Community Service
I come from a kind and giving family. Although we ourselves were poor when I was little, my mother made sure that my siblings and I participated in buying Christmas gifts and basic supplies or clothes for people in need every year. And on more than one occasion, my grandmother was quick to pick up a stranger and give them a ride, a meal and a few of bucks. She was always doing for and giving to others throughout her days. That’s how she lived every day of her life.
Growing up this way has definitely shaped me into the same kind and giving person. My life both personally and professionally has always consisted of community service and I have had the pleasure of donating countless hours to serving my community in various ways.
From organizing shoe drives and women’s circles at homeless shelters such as Gateway 180 and Call for Help - to taking on ‘little sisters’ who are going through a tough time (usually young single mothers) and helping them with things like finding housing, rides to government offices, job interviews, and various other types of practical hands-on help. I’ve also been known to pick up strangers, feed them and give them a ride somewhere. Everyone in my life is more or less the same way. We truly believe in taking care of each other.
My business model has always included a ‘Pay What You Can Afford’ policy because I operate my business with the same spiritual values that I operate my life with - I trust my inner guidance and do as I’m guided to do. If I feel led to work with someone who cannot pay me anything, I will because I am heart-driven and motivated by a desire to help make the world a better place. I almost always have at least a couple of people who I’m mentoring or are otherwise working with at no cost to them.
Helping to alleviate the suffering of others fills me with immense feelings of love, joy and peace because this is my purpose. Just as I am aware that there are those who are open to receive the gifts that I have to offer, I know that many more do not understand or want my help or services and I am in perfect peace regarding that. I stay in my lane and do not force my truths on anyone.
If I never got paid to do this work, I would still do it because it is who I am. I love helping people change and transform themselves for the better, I love seeing people light up with self-discovery and passion for their purpose in life, and I love seeing people overcome their fears and living their most authentic truth.
I love it because people who know who they are, who have healed their inner wounds, who have love in their hearts and are all lit up with joy are then able to share that same high vibe with other people and it becomes contagious. The more people on this planet who do their inner work and elevate their consciousness, the more loving and peaceful of a planet we create for ourselves and for future generations to enjoy.
Only once we’ve truly healed can we truly love - which is what we all need more than anything. I am doing my best to do my part.
Gratitude
I love helping people in general - however, helping others experience more peace, love and joy in their lives through spiritual elevation is my life’s purpose, passion and greatest pleasure.
The type of spiritual seeker who I tend to work with nowadays are those who have already done a lot of their inner healing work and just need a little help navigating their life path - which is such a joy to be a part of.
Thank you for being here with me in whatever capacity that aligns with our greatest good. I am grateful to get to know you and to go, grow and glow through this life journey with you.
May you always know that you always have all that you need and may all beings everywhere be happy and free,
Selena
